During WWII, H. T. Long realized due to the rapid growth of the Jackson,
Mississippi area, existing brick plants would not be able to supply the
demand for brick. In September of 1945, he and W. Harry Johnson, operator
of Tri-State Trailways Bus Lines of Shreveport, Louisiana and R. H. Robinson
a former lawyer and engineer from Vicksburg, Mississippi formed a corporation
and broke ground on a new modern, mechanized brick plant facility in Jackson,
Mississippi.
The plant became operational
in 1946 with W. Harry Johnson serving as President, H. T. Long serving as
Vice President and R. H. Robinson serving as Plant Manager. The facility
produced some of the finest in architectural and residential brick.
